Woodforest's 27-hole layout was designed and built in 2001 by PGA Tour player Steve Elkington, a University of Houston alum, with the West nine following in 2002; Front/Back is the traditional 18. Elkington has only two design credits, both in Texas. Originally public, the club converted to a private member-focused club in 2020.
