About Ancil Hoffman Golf Course

Ancil Hoffman Golf Course opened in 1965 in Carmichael as a public course owned by Sacramento County, designed by William Francis Bell. It sits along the American River Parkway next to Ancil Hoffman Park and the Effie Yeaw Nature Center, and takes its name from Ancil Hoffman, a figure in Sacramento politics and boxing. Bell did much of his 1950s-60s work in the Sacramento area, and the course has hosted the Memorial Amateur Championship.
