About Bide-A-Wee Golf Course

Bide-A-Wee was conceived by Portsmouth native and 1950 PGA champion Chandler Harper, who hired Fred Findlay to build it. It opened in spring 1956 on city land and was run privately under Harper's lease, opening to the public in 1988. The city took it over in 1992, and Tom Clark and Curtis Strange fully renovated it. It reopened in 1999 as an 18-hole, par-72 municipal course.
