Black Diamond Ranch - The Quarry Course

Carved from the rolling hill country of Lecanto, roughly 30 miles southwest of Ocala, the Quarry Course is Tom Fazio's dramatic answer to the flat-Florida stereotype. It opened in the late 1980s as one of several layouts Fazio routed across Black Diamond Ranch's unusually varied terrain of sand hills, dunes and an abandoned limestone quarry. The front nine rolls over tall sand ridges, but the course's signature is its back-nine run through the quarry itself, holes 13 through 17, where play skirts the rim of a deep pit and drops down steep rock walls to greens set against water. Long a fixture on national top-100 rankings, the Quarry is widely regarded as one of the finest and most distinctive courses in the state.
