Black Lake Golf Club opened in 2000 as an amenity of the United Auto Workers' Walter and May Reuther Family Education Center in Onaway. Rees Jones designed the course around natural wetlands, sand pits and ponds on about 300 acres of forest. The facility also has a nine-hole par-3 called The Little Course. Golf Digest named it runner-up for Best New Upscale Public Course in 2000.
