We love Brookside because it is Donald Ross the way Ross intended. After decades of drift, the Brian Silva restoration brought back the big, bold greens and clever routing that make a round here feel like a conversation with the architect. About Brookside Country Club
Brookside Country Club traces its roots to a nineteenth-century club at Myers Lake, where members reworked a nine-hole course after acquiring a lakeside casino in 1903. Seeking room to grow, the club secured land at its present Canton site and commissioned Donald Ross to design a full eighteen-hole course, which opened for play in 1922. A 1962 remodel by Robert Trent Jones Sr. gradually softened Ross's original character, so in 2003 architect Brian Silva was brought in to restore the layout, recapturing the broad greens, contoured fairways and strategic routing that define Ross's work. Set among gentle Stark County parkland, Brookside is regularly cited among Ohio's finest classic courses. The restoration returned the course to what enthusiasts describe as a true reflection of Ross's design, making it a destination for admirers of golden-age architecture.
