The Cardinal Course at the Country Club of North Carolina (Pinehurst) began as a 9-hole layout built by Willard C. Byrd in 1970, with a second nine completed by Robert Trent Jones in 1981; Arthur Hills renovated it in 2002. It plays to par 72 at about 6,467 yards (slope 134) and is ranked among the top courses of the Sandhills region.
