About Doral Blue Monster
The Blue Monster opened in 1962 as a Dick Wilson design that helped define the template for modern South Florida golf: water everywhere, deep bunkering and greens perched above the fairways for drainage and aerial target play. Its fearsome debut on the professional tour earned the nickname that stuck. Raymond Floyd later refreshed the layout, and in 2014 Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner completed a thorough remodel for the Trump family, adding length, new bunkers, fresh slopes and ridges, and excavating additional water on the closing par-3 15th and drivable par-4 16th to restore the course's bite. For years the Blue Monster hosted a World Golf Championships event in Miami, cementing its reputation as one of the region's best-known championship tests.
