Double Eagle Golf Club

Double Eagle Club is an ultra-private course in Galena/Berlin Township, Ohio, about 20 miles north of Columbus, that opened in 1992. It was founded by John McConnell, who built Worthington Industries into a Fortune 500 company, and designed by Columbus native and major champion Tom Weiskopf with his longtime architectural partner Jay Morrish. McConnell first floated the idea to Weiskopf during the 1980s Memorial Tournament, and the go-ahead call came in October 1989. Built by reshaping open, relatively flat farmland into gentle contours across a 340-acre tract, the par-72 layout plays about 7,140 yards. Design highlights include a 30-foot ravine woven through several front-nine holes, split fairways, and back-nine holes set against a natural lake, all framed by mature hardwoods for a sense of isolation.
