The Rim Golf Club

The Rim Golf Club opened in Payson, high in Arizona's Rim Country, and marked one of the final collaborations between Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish before the longtime design partners went their separate ways. Set around 5,000 feet amid ponderosa pines rather than saguaros, it offers a cooler, mountain alternative to Valley desert golf, with fairways framed by granite boulders, natural rock outcrops and the dramatic backdrop of the Mogollon Rim, from which the club takes its name. The private course anchors an award-winning residential community that has drawn praise from national golf and travel publications. Weiskopf and Morrish used the site's tumbling terrain and elevation to shape strong, strategic holes, and the layout has long been regarded as one of the best mountain courses in the Southwest.
