About Essex Country Club

Essex Country Club opened for play in 1983 on Old Stage Road in Essex Junction, about 20 minutes from Burlington. The club credits the design to Graham Cooke of Montreal, one of Canada's best-known course architects, who founded his own design firm in 1973, and several course listings also name Joe Chastaney alongside him. The layout is a par 72 that stretches to 6,545 yards from the back tees, with middle tees at about 6,045 yards and forward tees near 5,350, giving it genuine range for golfers of every level. The club offers daily-fee play alongside memberships, and it runs leagues, lessons and a busy calendar of outings and events, including a birthday club for regular players. For Chittenden County golfers it remains a full-length, public 18 close to home.
