About Hide-A-Way Lake Golf Club
Hide-A-Way Lake opened for lot sales on July 4, 1967, developed by James W. Fair of Tyler as a weekend retreat for Dallas and Shreveport residents, with a nine-hole golf course in the original plan. The golf facility grew into 27 holes across three nines -- Central, East and West -- that pair into 18-hole rounds, winding through the neighborhoods of the gated community. Course directories credit John Haynes with the original 1967 nine (now the East). The West nine was renovated in 2004 and the Central nine in 2005 at a combined cost of over $1.2 million, part of the club's "A New Day for Hideaway" $6 million facility upgrade program.
