Jekyll Island Golf Club - Indian Mound

Indian Mound was designed by Joe Lee and built in 1975, one of three eighteen-hole courses at the Jekyll Island Golf Club on Georgia's coast. Lee named it for the large oyster-shell middens left by native peoples on the island centuries earlier. The course showcases his signature style, with strategically placed fairway bunkers set in demanding positions and holes threading past Jekyll's lakes, marshes and woodlands. At just under 6,500 yards from the back tees, Indian Mound is the shortest of the resort's three courses, but its par 5s play tougher than the modest yardage suggests and only one of its par 3s offers an easy touch. Part of Georgia's largest public golf resort on a state-owned barrier island, it delivers a scenic, natural round emphasizing shot placement over sheer length, and pairs with Pine Lakes and Great Dunes to round out an accessible golf getaway.
