About Bacon Park Golf Course

Bacon Park opened in late 1926 as Savannah's municipal golf course, an 18-hole Donald Ross design on parkland set aside by the City of Savannah and Chatham County in 1925. It is named for county commissioner Judge Oliver T. Bacon. The course grew to 27 holes in 1985, and architect Richard Mandell later restored Ross's original layout using his sketches and old aerial photos.
