About John F. Byrne Golf Course

John F. Byrne Golf Course opened in 1931 as Holmesburg Country Club, designed by Scottish-born architect Alex Findlay. The City of Philadelphia acquired the property in the early 1960s and renamed it for Philadelphia Councilman John F. Byrne, making it a municipal course. Byberry Creek winds through the property and comes into play on numerous holes. In 2019 First Tee - Greater Philadelphia assumed management, bringing new irrigation, clubhouse improvements and youth programming to the public facility.
