Lakeway Country Club

Lakeway Country Club sits above Lake Travis west of Austin, and its two oldest courses were both drawn by Texas architect Leon Howard. The Live Oak Course, dating to the mid-1960s, is the one closest to the water, with holes running near the marina and long views across the lake; Howard called its third hole a personal favorite. The Yaupon Course followed in 1977, a par-72 layout playing to roughly 6,800 yards that winds through the hillier, tree-lined terrain of the community. Both reflect an older, ground-game style of design suited to the rolling Hill Country. Over the decades the broader Lakeway and Hills community has expanded to several courses, but Live Oak and Yaupon remain the original heart of golf on this stretch of Lake Travis.
