The Maples Course is the original course at Woodlake Country Club in Vass, NC, in the Sandhills near Pinehurst. Designed by Ellis Maples and opened in 1971, its opening holes wrap around Lake Surf before moving into classic Sandhills terrain. After the club's closure in the 2010s (a 2016 Hurricane Matthew dam scare forced Lake Surf to be drained), it was restored and reopened in September 2023 following a renovation by Maples specialist Kris Spence.
