About Morris Williams Golf Course

Morris Williams opened in 1964 as Austin's third public course and is owned by the City of Austin. Designed by Leon Howard, it is known for elevated, contoured greens and rolling terrain. The course is named for Morris Williams Jr., a standout Austin junior and amateur golfer killed in a jet crash during the Korean War. It once served as the home course of the University of Texas golf team under coach George Hannon, whose teams included Tom Kite and Ben Crenshaw.
