About Old American Golf Club
Old American Golf Club opened in September 2010 as a semi-private layout on the shores of Lake Lewisville in The Colony, north of Dallas. Architect Tripp Davis partnered with major champion Justin Leonard to build a deliberate throwback to America's Golden Age, drawing on the look and strategy of early-1900s masterpieces such as Shinnecock Hills, National Golf Links, Prairie Dunes and Crystal Downs. The par-71 course plays a little over 7,000 yards, favoring firm, ground-game golf, angled fairways and subtle contouring over forced heroics. Critics noticed quickly: Links Magazine named it among the best new courses of 2010, and GOLF Magazine ranked it among the top public courses in Texas. In May 2018 Old American hosted the LPGA Tour's Volunteers of America Texas Classic, raising its tournament profile.
