Owl's Nest Golf Club

Est. 1998 · Mark Mungeam (Cornish, Silva & Mungeam); improvements by Nicklaus Design from 2016
Why we love this place

Owl's Nest earns its spot with a routing that changes character every six holes, from links-style openers to pond-side holes to the climb onto Sunset Hill. Add White Mountain scenery in the Pemigewasset valley and an easy stay-and-play setup, and it's a natural weekend pick for anyone heading north on I-93.

About Owl's Nest Golf Club

Owl's Nest opened in 1998 in the Pemigewasset River valley beside Interstate 93, on the edge of the White Mountain National Forest. Mark Mungeam, then with the New England design firm Cornish, Silva & Mungeam, laid out the par-72 course to follow the valley's natural contours. The routing falls into three distinct six-hole sections: links-style holes around the clubhouse, a middle stretch that winds through open fields around a man-made pond, and a closing run up onto Sunset Hill, which the designers have described as among the best holes anywhere. In 2016, after LCJ Holdings acquired the resort, the new owners hired Nicklaus Design to recommend and oversee improvements, beginning with the bunkers and tee boxes and followed by planned tee-to-green work, as part of a larger master plan for the property. The resort now presents the course as a Nicklaus Design layout, and it remains open to visitors as well as members, with stay-and-play packages tied to the resort.
