Ross Rogers is a City of Amarillo municipal golf complex. The original 18-hole course was built with Work Progress Administration (WPA) funding and opened in 1940, named for Ross D. Rogers, Amarillo's mayor from 1932-1941 who championed the project during the Depression. Expanded to 27 holes in 1959 and 36 by 1978, the facility now operates two 18-hole courses: the WildHorse Course (opened 2004) and the Old/Mustang Course (the original 1940 Leon Howard layout, renovated by Colligan Golf Design in 2012).
