Shell Landing Golf Club

Shell Landing is a high-end public course on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, designed by major champion Davis Love III and opened in 2000. Stretching to 7,024 yards from the tips at par 72, it wraps around wetlands, tall pines, pine savannah and coastal marsh, with water in play on roughly eight holes and a course rating around 73.3 over a slope of 140. The design earned quick national acclaim: Golf Digest named it among America's Best New Courses, and in its January 2003 rankings placed Shell Landing No. 5 in the Best New Upscale Public category, the only top-five course located in the South. Multiple tee sets, from about 5,000 to 7,000 yards, keep the layout approachable while preserving the target-golf demands over water that give the course its teeth.
