Sea Pines Resort - Atlantic Dunes

Atlantic Dunes opened in November 2016 as Davis Love III's full redesign of the Ocean Course, Hilton Head Island's first golf course and a 1962 George Cobb design that helped launch the Lowcountry golf boom. Love, working with brother Mark and associate Scot Sherman, rebuilt the seaside layout at The Sea Pines Resort; the debut was pushed back about a month by Hurricane Matthew. Constrained by the existing fairway corridors between residential homes, Love opened sightlines by shifting mowing lines, removing trees, and softening intrusive lagoons. Tens of thousands of indigenous plants were installed to restore a natural coastal character. Part of Sea Pines' three-course lineup alongside Harbour Town Golf Links and Heron Point, Atlantic Dunes pairs modern turf and shot values with one of the most historically significant sites in South Carolina golf.
