About Stow Acres Country Club
Stow Acres is a 36-hole public facility in Stow, Massachusetts, built around a restored Victorian clubhouse. The site traces to roughly 1920 and in 1926 became Mapledale Country Club under Robert H. Hawkins — one of the first Black-owned-and-operated golf courses in the U.S., hosting the early National Colored Golf Championships in 1926-1928. The modern North and South eighteens are credited to architect Geoffrey Cornish, and the North Course hosted the 1995 U.S. Amateur Public Links.
