Sunday River Golf Club

Sunday River Golf Club sits in the western Maine mountains at the Sunday River resort in Newry, better known for its winter skiing. Carved into the rugged terrain by architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the eighteen-hole championship course opened to strong reviews in 2005 after construction that began earlier in the decade. Playing to a par of 72 and stretching past 7,000 yards, it winds through dramatic elevation changes, forested corridors and mountain vistas that draw comparisons to destination courses out west. The layout quickly earned recognition from national golf and travel publications, and in 2012 it hosted the Maine Amateur Golf Championship, cementing its place among the state's premier mountain tracks.
