About The Rawls Course At Texas Tech

The Rawls Course at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas opened in September 2003. It was designed by Tom Doak of Renaissance Golf Design (with associate Jim Urbina) and funded largely by an $8.6 million gift from alumnus Jerry S. Rawls. Built on a flat former cotton field, Doak's team moved enormous amounts of earth to mimic the canyons of the nearby Caprock. The NCAA championship course plays 7,207 yards to par 72 and is regularly ranked among the top collegiate and public courses.
