The Thomson Club was founded October 4, 1910 in Lynn as a social club for supervisory and professional staff of General Electric, named for Dr. Elihu Thomson of GE's Lynn Works. The club relocated to North Reading in 1961, and its golf course was built in 1963 to a design by Geoffrey Cornish. It remains a private club on Elm Street.
