About University Of Texas Golf Club
The University of Texas Golf Club opened in 2003 as a permanent home for the Longhorns' men's and women's golf programs, the product of a multi-year effort led by UT supporters who secured a long-term license to carry the school's name. Roy Bechtol, a Texas alumnus, and his design partner Randy Russell laid out the championship course across scenic Hill Country terrain west of Austin, with views toward Lake Austin and the neighboring Balcones Canyonlands preserve. Stretching past 7,100 yards, the par-71 layout serves as both a competitive collegiate venue and a private members' club. In 2017 the facility added a six-hole par-three short course nicknamed the "Lower 40," a nod to former Longhorn and major champion Jordan Spieth. It remains one of Austin's premier private golf experiences.
