Est. 2001 · Jay Morrish; Carter Morrish; Roy Bechtol; Randy Russell
Why we love this place
We love Star Ranch for its old-ranch openness and its playability. The Morrish brothers and Bechtol Russell laid a fun, rolling course around a central lake, with bright white bunkers and big-sky views, a round that rewards good shots without beating up the weekend player.

About The Golf Club Star Ranch
The Golf Club at Star Ranch sits in Hutto, northeast of Austin, on land that was once the Timmerman cattle ranch and is now the master-planned Star Ranch community. It opened in 2001 after a collaboration between the brothers Jay and Carter Morrish and the Texas design firm of Roy Bechtol and Randy Russell. They built the course on a hill around a central lake, following the land's natural roll and setting more than 60 white-sand bunkers against the prairie grasses. The aim was a course that is enjoyable rather than punishing, with five tee sets running from about 4,990 to just over 7,000 yards and TifEagle greens that mostly tilt back to front. The signature 15th is a short par 3 with a waterfall beside the green. Golf Digest gave it four stars in its Best Places to Play guide in 2008 and 2009.
