Victoria National Golf Course

Victoria National opened in 1998 near Newburgh, Indiana, about seven miles east of Evansville, and is regularly ranked the No. 1 course in the state. Developed by Terry Friedman and his family, it was built by Tom Fazio beginning in 1996 on a striking, unlikely site: hundreds of acres of former coal strip mines abandoned in the late 1970s. Fazio transformed the scarred terrain into a dramatic, water-laced layout across roughly 418 acres, with dark lakes and steep native banks framing tight, demanding holes. The course stunned critics and was named Best New Private Course of 1999. Ownership passed to Victoria Partners in 2010 and to the Dormie Network in 2018. Victoria National has hosted top professional competition, including the Korn Ferry Tour Championship, and is widely regarded as one of the toughest tests in the Midwest.
