Bally's Golf Links at Ferry Point

Est. 2015 · Jack Nicklaus
Why we love this place

Ferry Point is one of the great comeback stories in New York golf: a former Bronx landfill turned into a Jack Nicklaus links with the Manhattan skyline on the horizon. Firm, windswept and dramatic, it is a big-time round you can book inside city limits.

About Bally's Golf Links at Ferry Point

Bally's Golf Links at Ferry Point sits on the eastern side of Ferry Point Park in the Bronx, beside the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, on ground that served as a city landfill from the early 1950s into the 1960s. In 2000 the city agreed with developers to turn the old dump into a championship golf course, and Jack Nicklaus was hired to design it, with an opening first targeted for 2003. Cost overruns, environmental requirements and legal snags stalled the work for years, and in 2011 the Trump Organization took over the stalled project under a city license. Construction of the final hole was marked in October 2013, and the links-style course, stretching to about 7,400 yards with views of the Manhattan skyline, opened to the public in 2015. The operating license later passed to Bally's Corporation, which gave the course its current name.
