Bandon Crossings

Bandon Crossings is an independent public course just south of the famous Bandon Dunes resort, and not affiliated with it. Rex and Carla Smith bought the land, a former sheep and cattle ranch set on ancient sand dunes, in 2005, and the course opened in 2007. It was the first eighteen-hole design by Oregon architect Dan Hixson, who reportedly spent more than 200 days on site shaping the routing across rolling, wooded, sandy terrain that drains exceptionally well. The par-72 layout measures roughly 6,855 yards, with bentgrass greens and winter-rye fairways threading through fir forest and open meadow. Golf Magazine named it one of its Top 10 New Courses of 2007, and Golfweek has ranked it among Oregon's finest public tracks, an affordable, walkable alternative for travelers to the southern Oregon coast.
