About Biltmore Golf Course

The Biltmore Golf Course was designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1925 alongside the Biltmore Hotel in George Merrick's planned city of Coral Gables. In 1931 it hosted the $10,000 Miami-Biltmore-Coral Gables Open, then the richest tournament in golf, drawing stars such as Bobby Jones, Gene Sarazen and Tommy Armour. After falling into disrepair, the City of Coral Gables-owned course was restored by Brian Silva in 2007 and again in 2018-2019 using Ross's original 1925 plans.
