Birdwood at Boar's Head Resort in Charlottesville first opened in 1984 and is home to the University of Virginia golf teams. When the UVA Foundation reworked the property, Davis Love III's Love Golf Design, led by Scot Sherman, built an essentially new course, keeping only three heavily altered holes and turning an old farm pond into the 17th green's hazard; it reopened in July 2020 with a par-3 course and putting course alongside.
