Potomac Shores in Dumfries is a Jack Nicklaus Signature course on the banks of the Potomac, about 30 minutes south of Washington. Nicklaus started it before the 2008 crash stalled the project; developer SunCal bought the 1,920-acre community out of receivership in 2009 and revived the course, which debuted in 2014. Golf Digest named it one of the 10 best new courses in the country in 2015, and it is the only Nicklaus Signature course open to the public in Northern Virginia.
