About Stumpy Lake Golf Course

Stumpy Lake is a Robert Trent Jones Sr. layout sitting inside the 1,422-acre Stumpy Lake Natural Area, beside a cypress-lined, 278-acre lake on the Chesapeake line. The land belonged to the City of Norfolk until Virginia Beach acquired it in 2001 and put it under a master plan focused on preservation. Sources disagree on when the course opened: most directories say 1958, while the VSGA lists 1953. Wildlife is a big part of the round here.
