About Bobby Jones Golf Club

This City of Atlanta municipal course opened in 1932 as a tribute to Atlanta's legendary amateur Bobby Jones. In July 1951 it was the whites-only course where Alfred "Tup" Holmes and his family were denied play, igniting the Holmes v. Atlanta desegregation case. After a roughly $32-36 million donor-funded rebuild, it reopened November 5, 2018 as one of the world's first reversible layouts, with double-greens playable as either the Magnolia or Azalea nine. The redesign was the final work of architect Bob Cupp, who died in 2016.
