Capital City Club - Brookhaven

The Brookhaven course traces to 1911, when Herbert H. Barker, a golf professional from Garden City, New York, laid out a nine-hole course northeast of downtown Atlanta. It opened in 1912 as Brookhaven Country Club, the city's second course after East Lake. The surrounding Brookhaven neighborhood was among the first in Georgia planned around a golf course. The Capital City Club, one of the Southeast's oldest social clubs, dating to 1883, leased the property in 1913 and purchased it in 1915, expanding the layout from nine to eighteen holes. Today it plays as a par-70 course threaded through an established, tree-lined residential setting inside the perimeter. Its long history and in-town location make it one of Atlanta's most storied private clubs.
