Castle Pines Golf Club

Castle Pines Golf Club opened in 1981, the creation of founder Jack Vickers, who commissioned Jack Nicklaus to carve a course from the scrub oak and pine forest near Castle Rock, roughly 25 miles south of Denver. Set at high elevation in the Rocky Mountain foothills, it plays as one of the longer championship courses in the country, with thin mountain air sending drives soaring. Vickers built the club with a tournament in mind, and Castle Pines became home to The International, a PGA Tour event famous for its modified Stableford scoring format, which it hosted from 1986 through 2006. The course earned early acclaim and joined golf's national rankings within its first decade, holding a place among America's top layouts ever since. After Vickers died in 2017, the club returned to the big stage, welcoming the 2024 BMW Championship to its dramatic pines-and-mountains setting.
