Chattanooga Golf & Country Club

Founded in 1896, Chattanooga Golf & Country Club is among the South's pioneering clubs, formed only about eight years after the first courses opened in the United States, and it is regarded as the oldest club in Tennessee still on its original site, set along the Tennessee River. Its early members were instrumental in creating the Southern Golf Association in 1902, and the club hosted important amateur competition in the region, including a Southern Amateur won by a young Bobby Jones in 1920. In the early 1920s the club engaged Donald Ross to lay out the course that still forms the backbone of today's routing. Bill Bergin directed a substantial renovation in 2005, updating conditioning and features while preserving the layout's classic bones.
