Conestoga Golf Club opened in January 2010 as the centerpiece of Del Webb's Sun City Mesquite active-adult community. Gary Panks designed it to look as if it had been "crafted by nature," across 7,200 yards of high-desert terrain with about 50 bunkers. It was originally slated to open in 2008, but the opening slipped as the housing market fell.
