About Cummaquid Golf Club
Cummaquid Golf Club was organized on August 17, 1895, making it the first golf club in Barnstable County on Cape Cod; it remains the area's oldest active private club, located in Yarmouth Port. The name derives from "Chummaquid," an indigenous name for the Sandy Neck area, and the club adopted a silver arrowhead insignia after arrowheads were found on the land. The present 18-hole, par-71 course (about 6,300 yards) is attributed to architect William F. Mitchell, reflecting the modern layout rather than the original 1895 course.
