About Detroit Gc

Detroit Golf Club, a private club founded in 1899, began as a six-hole course by Bert Way on rented farmland at Six Mile and Woodward. It expanded to 18 holes by the early 1900s, and in 1913 Donald Ross surveyed the property and built out 36 holes, funded by Horace Rackham. Albert Kahn designed the 1916-18 clubhouse. The club integrated racially in 1986 and has hosted the PGA Tour's Rocket Classic on the North Course since 2019.
