Arthur Hills's Dunes West opened in 1991 on land first granted in 1696 that later became the Four Men's Ramble plantation. In 1930 Henrietta Hartford built a 32-room estate there with nine golf holes; the mansion burned in 1942, and the land was sold to a veneer company in 1947.
