Fort Myers Country Club is a historic Donald Ross-designed course that opened December 29, 1917, built under the supervision of Ross associate James B. McGovern after Ross surveyed the site in 1916. The City of Fort Myers purchased the facility in 1927 and has operated it as a municipal public course ever since; it is a stop on the Florida Historic Golf Trail.
