Island Pointe opened in 1991 as River Islands Golf Club, an Arthur Hills design on the French Broad River in Kodak. Five holes (3, 4, 5, 15 and 16) sit on three islands in the river, and the par-3 4th plays from one island to a green on another. After the club struggled financially around 2009 it was sold and renamed Island Pointe.
