Kiawah Island Golf Resort - Turtle Point

Turtle Point opened in 1981 as the second course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort and the first to carry golfers to the edge of the Atlantic. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, it predates the famous Ocean Course as the island's original oceanfront golf. Three seaside holes were deliberately set back from the dunes to protect loggerhead sea turtle nesting grounds, giving the course its name. The heart of the round is the stretch from 14 through 16: a demanding par-3 that first meets the ocean, a short par-4 many call the signature hole with a punchbowl green, and another exposed par-3, the two one-shotters facing opposite directions so the wind tests players from every angle. Regrassed with Paspalum during a 2016 refurbishment, Turtle Point is slated to co-host the 2029 Junior PGA Championships.
