Est. 1972 · William F. Mitchell
Why we love this place
McCann is a public course with a generous heart, built by a charitable trust so anyone could play. William Mitchell's solid layout, refreshed by Stephen Kay, is well kept and fairly priced. A Hudson Valley staple that does right by everyday golfers.

About Mccann Golf Course
McCann Memorial Golf Course opened in 1972 in the Town of Poughkeepsie, built with a grant from the James J. McCann Charitable Trust, whose founder wanted a public, affordable course open to everyone, an unusual idea at the time. Architect William F. Mitchell designed the 18-hole layout, and in 2001 Stephen Kay updated the course. McCann is run by McCann-Caven Golf Courses, Inc., a New York not-for-profit corporation that operates it at no cost to the City or Town of Poughkeepsie and also runs the sister course at College Hill. In recent years the course has undergone further renovation, including rebuilt bunkers and a new drainage system on the front nine, and it has hosted the Dutchess County Amateur Championship. More than half a century after it opened, McCann remains a lasting example of private philanthropy creating truly public golf.
