Old Hickory began in 1920 as a nine-hole course laid out by Scottish-born architect Tom Bendelow on land previously used to graze cattle and sheep. It was later expanded to 18 holes, a project finished by Milwaukee Journal golf writer Billy Sixty Jr. and designer Robert Greaves. Old Hickory hosted the 107th Wisconsin State Amateur in July 2008.
