Palm Beach Country Club opened in 1917 on a course laid out by Donald Ross, originally created so Flagler's Royal Poinciana and Breakers hotels would have a second golf course for guests. It later became an exclusive private club long associated with Palm Beach's Jewish society and is regarded as one of the most exclusive clubs in the United States.
